My name is Joe Kanauss and I am an aspiring writer. I have been writing since I can remember and it is my deepest passion. The ability to create not just characters, but seemingly real people, is the most exhilarating feeling in the world. To put them into situations of immense importance to them and to be able to choose how things will end up is nothing short of amazing. Yes, it is something like a God Complex, but who hasn’t ever wished they could be more in control of their own lives? Writing gives me the chance to be the master of a life. No, it’s not my own, but it is the life of a person that is important to me.
I am an open-minded Christian-Household Agnostic who believes that you should do whatever makes you happy, so long as it does not injure another person. I do not know if there is a god or higher being, but I’d like to believe that there is someone or something looking out for us. I do believe that there is an afterlife, particularly after reading What Dreams May Come by Richard Matheson. I do not live by any strict commandments or laws. I only live by the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. I try to make people around me feel happy, even when I don’t. I love everyone around me, even when I don’t like them.
I am 21 years old and have two brothers, TK and Alex, a sister, Katie, and mother and father, Anne and Kent. I was raised in a separated household, but neither parent showed any animosity towards the other. My family and friends are the most important thing in my life and I cherish them, even if I sometimes spat with them. They are my Energizer Bunny and keep me going and going and going. Every story I write is dedicated to these wonderful people. They inspire me to continue writing every day and I thank them dearly.
As I stated previously, I am an aspiring writer. I am currently going to a local college in hopes of getting a degree and writing professionally while either teaching or doing some other career. Every day, I am in search of inspiration for another story and I can find it anything: a piece of artwork, a song, or just my own mind.
My writing is usually centered around violence and can be quite graphic. This is, however, no reflection of me as a person. My ideas come from some dark corner of my mind, yes, but no corner that is infectious and dangerous to the rest of my calm, optimistic mentality. I find it very therapeutic, in fact, to write such violent tales. It can be a great stress reliever and allows imagination and creativity to flow from the mind. If you can’t write whatever you want, there is no point in writing.
I also have an ever-growing passion to share my thoughts and feelings on what I have read or watched, hence this review site. I hope you all enjoy this fun endeavor and am open to any comments you would like to leave!
